What is Immune system?

The immune system works to protect your body from germs to keep it healthy. For which it develops antibodies that help it fight germs. Which is made up of organs, cells, and proteins that work together to fight infection. These include toxins such as bacteria, viruses, and germs. The immune system is aware of every microbe
it has encountered. This means that if this germ enters the body again, it can detect and destroy it before it makes you sick. Sometimes the immune system is unable to fight effectively because if a person has a bad health condition, he or she has to resort to certain drugs, which affect the way the system works.

  • White Blood Cells: – White blood cells are an important part of our immune system. It contains several types of white blood cells. White blood cells destroy germs, working together against harmful bacteria and viruses to keep the body healthy. Each cell has a different way of recognizing and working with the problem.
  • Lymph Nodes: These small glands filter and destroy germs so they can’t spread to other parts of your body and make you sick. Lymph nodes contain immune cells that analyze the bacteria brought into your body. They then activate specific lymphocytes to fight that bacterium. There are many lymph nodes in your body such as in the neck, armpits, and groin, if you see them raised or swollen then it means that your body is fighting an infection.
  • Spleen: – The spleen is a small organ on the inside of your left rib, just above your abdomen. White blood cells that defend your body from harmful pathogens are kept in your spleen. Our blood is filtered, and old, damaged red blood cells are destroyed.
  • Tonsils and Adenoids: – Tonsils and adenoids are important immune organs. Those who have immune cells that produce antibodies to protect against many germs that enter the body through the mouth and nose play a very important role.
  • Thymus: – The thymus gland is an important part of our immune system. This is a small organ in the upper chest, below the breastbone, that helps train the white blood cells that protect your immune system. Its specific function is to recognize and remember microbes.
  • Bone Marrow: – Bone marrow is the spongy tissue inside our bones. Red blood cells, plasma cells, and different types of white blood cells develop into immunity. In children it reaches puberty, and in adults, this marrow is found in the spine, hip, shoulder bones, ribs, breastbone, and inside the skull. Bone marrow makes billions of new blood cells every day and releases them into your bloodstream. By then the marrow inside the bones of the arms and legs stops producing new marrow cells.
  • Skin: – The skin has an immune system, which protects the body from infection, cancer, and toxins, and acts against the external environment. Also called skin- associated lymphoid tissue (SALT), these include peripheral lymphoid organs such as the spleen and lymph nodes. They protect the body from infection, cancer, and toxins, and act against the external environment.
  • Mucosal Membranes: – The immune system can be viewed as an organ that has an easy passage for mucosal immune cells. It plays an important role in inducing antibody responses to potentially dangerous microbes that invade the oral cavity, digestive tract, and respiratory tract during food intake and respiration.
  • The First Line Defence: – first line of defence includes physical and chemical barriers that are always ready to protect the body from infection and disease. These include your skin, tears, mucus, cilia, stomach acid, urine stream, and bacteria. Even if this first line is broken, the second line of defence is activated within our body.
  • Stomach: – Stomach acid kills many bacteria soon after they enter your body. Your intestines also contain the right bacteria that kill harmful bacteria. Although abdominal churning is sometimes not permanent, it may indicate a condition occurring inside.

To keep our immune system healthy and boost it, we have to take care of these things, like keeping them as strong as the rest of the body, for which we need nutrition, rest, and a healthy environment. Certain lifestyle changes can boost your immune system and help you avoid illness.
